Here is an easy DIY to make your own leaf crown, all you need is:
- Maple leaves – or any kind of leaves you want your crown to have. The size depends on how big your crown should be in the end. As I used bigger maple leaves, my crown turned out quite big.
I used smaller leaves as well to fill my crown since I wanted it to look thick.
(Side Note: Dry leaves may break or cannot be bent easily. Also make sure your picked leaves are not too wet or simply wipe off the water.)
- Thin wire – You can easily form and twist it around the leaves. I used wired fairy lights to make the crown look more special.
- Any bush with berries – I used red ones but you can choose any colour you like or that fits into your crown; please don’t ask me which kind of berries these are, since I can’t tell you the plant type.
- Scissors
Step 1:
Measure your head with the wire and form a circle.
Step 2:
Sort all leaves depending on colour and/ or size.
Step 3:
Take some leaves and put a bush with berries on it and then wrap wire around it. Repeat until your circle is completed. I recommend putting 3 or 4 leaves in a bundle. If you think there are too many leaves in a bundle, simply pull them out of the bundle and use them elsewhere. You can easily fill the gaps afterwards with berries or leaves as I did in the end.
Et violà, you have your own leaf crown. If you want to hide the stalks of the leaves you can easily bend them and fix them on your crown with some wire. But be careful the stalks can break off the leaves and then they cannot be fixed on the circle anymore. Don’t worry if this happens: simply take another leaf and tuck it in to fill the crown again.
